Blackwattle Alpaca Farm is looking for passionate and reliable Tour Guides & Guest Experience Officers who are interested in joining and supporting a local farming, yarn production and agritourism business in a period of growth and transformation.

About the role…

Blackwattle is seeking motivated individuals to deliver a full range of tours, activities and farm-based experiences to our guests.

Through various activities and means of communication, you will educate farm guests about Blackwattle’s alpacas and llamas, breeding programs and adjacent yarn and fibre business, while demonstrating the highest quality of customer service.

You will be the face of the business and you will be responsible for ensuring that visitors are surprised and delighted during an enjoyable time on our property. We regularly welcome large groups, special needs groups as well as families from all over the country.

Key accountabilities:

• Conduct guided tours of Blackwattle’s farm and retail areas.
• Educate visitors about the farm’s collection of animals, breeding programs and fibre production.
• Present a select group of approved animals ensuring correct animal handling techniques to enhance visitor experience.
• Facilitate a positive customer experience that guests will recommend to others.
• Participate in animal handling, care and husbandry as required.
• Conduct general and minor farm maintenance jobs (e.g. cleaning paddocks, feeding livestock, halter training the young alpacas and cleaning water troughs).
• Comply with and report any Work, Health and Safety incidents in line with Blackwattle’s Work, Health and Safety Charter.
• Other duties as requested.

• Excellent time management skills.
• Ability to perform under pressure in the rare case of emergency situations.

Demonstrated experience in a similar role is highly regarded, but not essential as alpaca and llama specific training is provided on the job. Flexibility to support us with any weekday large group bookings would be appreciated – when required.

To be considered for this exciting opportunity you will also demonstrate an ability to:
• Obtain and maintain a current paid NSW Working with Children Check.
• Obtain and maintain a current Applied First Aid qualification.

Terms of employment:

• Hours: Shifts will be available 3 days per week – Friday, Saturday & Sunday between 9.30am to 4.30pm.
• Location: Blackwattle Alpaca Farm – 315 Patemans Lane, Murrumbateman, NSW.
• These positions are ongoing following a successful 1-month probationary period.
Wages are paid in accordance with the Amusement, Events and Recreation Award 2022 (links noted below). Pay rate guide* is:
• Monday to Saturday: $25.51 – $27.40 p/hr
• Sunday: $35.72 – $38.36 p/hr
• Public Holidays: $56.13 – $60.28 p/hr

*pay rate dependant on experience levels.
